Buying in a golf community

A golf-course address does not necessarily mean the same thing as club membership. Some communities have mandatory memberships, some offer optional access and others simply border a course.

What to verify

• Is membership required, optional or unavailable with the property?
• What are initiation, transfer and annual dues?
• Does the lot face a tee box, fairway, green or cart path?
• How much golfer and cart traffic passes the home?
• Are there ball-strike risks?
• How do club and HOA fees interact?
